So you just bought a pair of rollerskates! Now what do you do?

So you just bought your first pair of roller skaters, congratulations! Now what do you do? Unboxing your first pair of roller skates is a memorable moment in your skate journey, so let’s find out how you can start to understand your product better and learn some of the basic roller skating skills.

It is important to know what is happening underneath your skate boots. Before putting your skates on your feet, check to see that all components of your skates are attached properly. Your wheels should roll freely and without resistance, if they are coming to a quick stop loosen the wheel nut a half turn each time to achieve a longer roll.
Trucks are what make your skates turn! With new skates you may notice that one skate can be pulling in a particular direction when skating forwards. To correct this, place that particular skate on the floor and push it along a straight line – if you notice it starts rolling off to one side then it is a good time to readjust your trucks!
Investing in a skate tool is necessary to make all of these adjustments to your skates. Adjusting your roller skates can happen over time, and it is important to have a skate tool in your bag at all times in case you need to adjust or fix your skates when you are out and about.
